I'm a lifelong athlete, eating disorder survivor, NASM certified personal trainer, PN1 nutrition coach, & holistic health enthusiast!
I grew up in North Carolina, where I started swimming competitively by the age of 5. I stepped on a track in middle school, running middle and long distances in track and cross country. It was also during this time that I developed an eating disorder that mutated throughout the years but took me over a decade to conquer.
I continued swimming and running until college, where I fell in love with all things fitness and health, taking group fitness & yoga classes, regularly going on runs and swims, trying my hand at a triathlon, getting licensed as a Zumba instructor after years of taking it at the YMCA, and slowly began attempting to eat better and cook for myself.
I graduated from UNCW in 2011 with a Bachelor's in English and have finally decided to plunge into the blogging world and put my writing skills to work. While living in NYC for nearly 4 years I became obsessed with lifting weights, biking the overpopulated city streets, and yoga & meditation (though still love to run and swim too).
At last, about six years ago, I began to recover from my fight with bulimia, anorexia, and binge-eating. I now see food as medicine, fuel, and a gift to my body. Has this been a linear process? Hell no. There have been relapses, tears, moments when I think negatively about my body and the calories I put into it, but I'm thankful for this battle because it lead me to finding my purpose and pursuing a career as a fitness professional.
Previously a personal trainer at Equinox in Manhattan, I moved back to my home state and am readjusting to life outside of the city. I'm always eager to pass along physical movement and nutrition knowledge, while supporting people in making healthy habits that stick. I am here to help and to talk, so don't be shy! Say hi!
